What is a dream and what is "reality"? The older I get, and the more I practice living in the moment, the more the two converge. Dreams can seem fleeting or long. So can reality. Time can either drastically speed up or slow down depending on the state of consciousness. No one will ever know what our experience is before we come alive into our bodies and after we depart them. My mental lens shape-shifts depending on how I feel and what is piquing my curiosity.
My work portrays my experiences through my own personal lens. People, places and things I see in my reality, my imagination, and in my dreams. Aren't they all the same? Equal parts of this human experience.
I paint mostly with oils. Sparked by an idea, feeling or inspiration and a bit of planning upfront, I try to step aside and let the painting evolve how it wants to. Applying various levels of force, volume, and looseness dictated by the unique energy of the moment. I paint en plein air, from photos, and from pure imagination.
Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream...
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...
Life is is but a dream.
